It's Great to Be Eight and Alex is Eight

I love eight year olds. There is something about turning eight. The closer my kids get to eight, we start to see less tantrums. You start to see a change in their attitude and their ability to deal with things. They seem ready for the a new stage or the next step in life. Alex just recently turned eight. We had a spy party to celebrate the occasion, he also got to go out for ice cream with his Mom, Dad, and cousin.

With our Religion when you turn eight you can be baptized. Alex was baptized on April 18, 2009. It was an absolutely beautiful day. I am so proud of Alex and his decision to be baptized and so is our Heavenly Father. The spirit was not only there at the baptism but remained in our home the entire day. Nobody fought or yelled. The weather was perfect. We had family there to help us celebrate. We have always lived so far away that having family to events like this has been nearly impossible.

Alex is now a cub scout another perk of being eight. He loves it. It is keeping us busy, with good active things, too busy to play too much gameboy, play station and computer. He started soccer for the first time. He wanted to play in England but we never got around to it. Too bad because every kid in England can kick a football from the day they are born.

Alex drew a bird for a contest held by the Bird Refuge here. His entry was one of 84 picked from over 1700 entries to be drawn on a banner and displayed on Main Street. This however is not a result of turning eight he actually drew the bird when he as seven, days away from eight.

I am so grateful for my eight year old boy. I love his smile, his enthusiasm and his love for learning. He got a little up set at me today for not getting him up in time for school because he had a dentist appointment at 9:00am. He told he would rather I made them after school and Friday's are the worst days to pick because it's test day.
